4 pro tips to make your candles last longer and smell more
There's nothing better than lighting a beautifully scented candle to create a cozy, inviting atmosphere - so much so that you might think, if only there was a way to make this vibe last longer! Well, we’ve got great news - there are a few simple ‘hacks’ that can help you get the most out of your favourite candles. Read on to discover our four pro tips to extend the candle burn time and enhance the scent, so you can enjoy every last bit of that luxurious aroma.

Number 1:

Choose the right size - the truth is, the perfect candle burning experience begins before even lighting the candle, it begins with choosing the right size candle for the space. Your candle should will the room with the fragrance, without overpowering. To get this step right, you should think about the diameter of the candle as well as the layout of your space. The larger the diameter, the bigger the burn pool, the more scent release from your candle, is the basic rule to follow. So if you’re planning a self care evening of a book and a bubble bath in a bathroom, a smaller candle can easily get the job done. If you’re planning a dinner party in an open plan sitting room with high ceilings, you might want to opt in for maybe two or three larger candles, placed strategically near places where people will be gathered the most.

Number 2:

Trim the wick - keeping on top of the wick length can greatly impact the aesthetic of your candle, as well as the amount of time it will end up lasting. The optimal length for our candles is about 1cm or half an inch. This way the flame will always be the appropriate size to melt the wax and release the fragrance, but not too big to burn too quickly or to singe the glass, leaving it looking sooty. You can snap the burnt wick with your fingers or a pair of scissors, but we highly recommend using a Wick Trimmer which collects the debris at the same time, making sure your candle is clean and perfectly ready for the next burn.

Number 3:

Keep the paws and little hands away - this step is probably obvious, but safety comes first, so it is worth stating. Keep your candles away from pets and children to avoid any breakages. Nothing ends a candle potential quicker than an accident.

Number 4:

Take your time - for our candles, the optimal burn time is around 2 - 3 hours. This allows the wax to melt evenly, all the way to the container’s edge, making sure that each time you light the candle, the perfect burn pool is formed.

Extra tip:

If for whatever reason you can’t let your candle burn long enough and a little tunnel starts to form, make sure to scrape up the access wax. It might feel like the wax is going to waste, but it means that every other burn after can be perfect again, rather than perpetuating the tunnelling.

By following these pro tips, you can make your candles last longer and smell stronger, creating a more enjoyable ambiance in your space. And remember, the basic burning instructions are always printed at the bottom of every candle—so be sure to check those for the best results!
