Founded in 2006 by James Robertson, Skye Candles began far smaller than it is today  on his family’s croft. With a mission to create naturally fragranced candles and subsequently build employment on the island. Today, our products are still handmade on Skye, with our business rooted in the community we call home.

Our candles are made using 100% soya wax derived from ethically sourced, European-grown soya, blended with essential and fragrance oils. We chose soya as a plant-based alternative to paraffin wax, creating candles designed to deliver a quality fragrance and a long-lasting burn.

Every candle is made by hand by our team on Skye. Keeping production hands-on allows us to pay attention to quality at every stage, while creating skilled employment and supporting the local island economy.

From recyclable, plastic-free online packaging to our Return & Reward scheme and our refillable reed diffusers, we look for ways to reduce waste throughout our business. Customers can return eligible empty candle and diffuser containers to participating stores, where they’re cleaned, safety-checked and reused in production, with loyalty points awarded for each return.
