Officially, John is our Graphic Designer. In reality? His role spans far beyond that.

While graphic design is at the heart of what he does, John's creative talents stretch well beyond the screen. Whether he's behind a camera capturing beautiful product photography, filming content for our window screens and the cinema, or visiting our shops across Scotland, no two days are ever quite the same.
And that's exactly how he likes it.
One of John's favourite things about working at Skye Candles is the variety. Every week brings something different, whether that's designing new marketing materials or now even packaging, photographing a seasonal collection, or creating fun posters and content for LAS and Gasta. It's a role that allows him to combine creativity with storytelling, while seeing first-hand the people and places that make Skye Candles what it is.

That variety also comes with another unexpected benefit.
Like many designers, spending long hours in front of a computer can sometimes be the least enjoyable part of the job. Fortunately, photography and videography provide the perfect balance. Instead of spending every day behind a screen, John regularly swaps his desk for a camera, getting out and about to capture life across our business.
From our Visitor Centre to our shops throughout Scotland, these trips not only provide fresh inspiration but also give John the opportunity to meet the people behind each location. It's a reminder that every photograph tells part of a much bigger story.
For John, working at Skye Candles is also something of a homecoming.
Originally from Skye, he grew up just a stone's throw from the famous bothy where our founder, James, first started the company. It's a lovely full-circle moment that someone who grew up so close to the very beginnings of Skye Candles is now helping shape how the brand looks and feels today.
As you'll see in this week's 60 Seconds With... video, John shares a little about his role, what he enjoys most, and why no two days are ever the same.
Right at the end, he jokes that he's made life difficult for whoever has to edit the interview.
Thankfully, that couldn't have been further from the truth.
And P.S. John's favourite fragrance is Highland Gorse.
